Hi There!
Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!! Mine was cray cray. Ellie got an ear infection, I broke out in poison ivy all over legs and arms, which itched like the dickens, and then I lost my debit card, which I found today in the trash (nice). You know, one of those super glamorous weekends? We did, however, end up making the best of it all – spending time with Andrew’s parents at their lake house and going to the Ed Sheeran concert with one of my dearest friends.
A few weeks ago, I got asked by the incredible Jamie Ivey, author of http://jamieivey.com/, to do a candid interview on her famous Happy Hour podcast. Jamie has interviewed some incredible women, one of whom is Jen Hatmaker (famous Christian author and speaker http://jenhatmaker.com/), so naturally I was beyond honored when she asked me to share my story. Special shout out to Amanda Reed for sharing my story with Jamie, which led to this great opportunity! Jamie has an inspiring story of adoption, faith, and authenticity. The interview ended up being very candid and vulnerable (laughs and tears). I am listening to you right now and what an inspiration you are. Cancer is awful. I lost my mom to it 11.5 years ago and every day I miss her and still cry ugly cries some days, so I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose my husband. Thank you for being real and sharing your story of love and loss and parenting as you navigate your way through a new normal.

Hi, Bailey! I just came over after listening to the Happy Hour podcast. I just wanted to tell you that a) I think you are PRECIOUS. b) You inspired me so, so much in just a short hour’s time. Since I had my daughters (one of whom is named Ellie!!), I have dealt with a lot of fear about the what if’s. What if something happens to my husband? What if something happens to my girls? In these times of fear, I am doubting God and His goodness and His ability to be good and gracious even if the worst happens. Your trust in God and your testimony of His faithfulness even as Andrew went to be with Him created such a shift in my thinking. I am so grateful for your willingness to share your story and the way you have thrown open your life to helping others. May God bless you and sweet Ellie. And thank you, Bailey.
Hi Jess! You just made my day! Seriously, you have no idea. Thank you for your kind words. Some days are easier than others, but when I get messages like yours it just puts it all into perspective and gives me fuel to keep giving and sharing! I can so relate to all of your fears and doubts and it’s something I’m constantly working through with the Lord. God has been my source of strength through all of this and I have more trust in Him now than ever before because He has truly taken care of me and my family.
